Jada Ramey, “Slay the Audition Like a Vet”

Hi my name is Jada Ramey from Decatur, Georgia. I’m currently a high school senior seeking entrance as a freshman at Alabama state university. At this present time I have decided to transition from cheering as a Varsity cheerleader with more than 8 years of experience to become a dancer among one of the most talented dance teams know as “The Stingettes”. While cheering and dancing share similar elements they are different in many ways. While I have had opportunities to participate in dance plays or small skits, I have always searched to learn techniques of understanding which includes sharp Percision movements. Lately my opportunities have allowed me to understand how dance tends are more graceful allowing me to show feeling through movements and turns.
Miss Asia Martin, provided me with valuable information that will allow for me to work on preparation for auditions, understanding how to dress and how to meet the expectations of dance during an audition.
Valuable information as such has allowed me to map out reachable goals, and to continue working hard to pursue my passion and my desire to dance on the best dance team ever at Alabama state university.
Your response to my questions has given me and so many others the guidance needed to bring out the very best.”

Rissa Smith, “Slay the Audition Like a Vet!”

“Hi! My name is Risa Smith and I am currently a college sophomore at the University of Memphis. I have been a dancer since I was about 8 years old. I was never formally trained but participated mostly in the majorette style. Over the years I’ve competed all over the city of Memphis with my former dance team and even auditioned to be a 2017-18 Grizz Girl for the Memphis Grizzlies. (I made it to the final round but was not chosen.) I even attempted to bring the culture of a majorette style dance team here to the University of Memphis in attempt to live out my dream of dancing on a college dance line.
Every since my sophomore year of high school it has been my dream to audition for and be apart of the Alabama State Stingettes. I haven’t gone for it yet because I feel as if I am not good enough because I lack technique. I know I am capable but I am unsure where to begin. The Stingettes are everything I want to be as a dancer. It is where I feel I belong in my heart. Watching you lead this amazing group of women inspired me to become a better dancer. Every time I dance, practice, or perform I imagine myself in those stands, in front of thousands of people and I put my heart into every step. I have finally decided to be brave and audition for the up coming season. If I don’t try I’ll never forgive myself. Signing up for this course was the first step to achieving and getting a chance to live out one of my BIGGEST dreams. For these wonderful tips to have come from one of the most iconic Stingette captains and my all time favorite dancer was just amazing. I intend to apply your guide to my everyday life no matter what team I audition for. This course was the extra push I needed to realize my dream is definitely achievable and nothing can stop me.

Thank you for being an inspiration to me and other young girls and women everywhere!”

The Glory Academy is a great online tutorial for young inspiring HBCU Collegiate dancers. The course is a great gateway to getting a dancer ready for auditions no matter the team. It helped me a lot in preparation for upcoming auditions.”

Kamil Goodman, “Slay the Audition Like a Vet”

“Good evening , my name is Kamil Goodman I am currently a junior at A.H. Parker High school in Birmingham, AL. I dance in Parker’s marching band and perform outside of school as well in clubs . My overall dream is to go to an HBCU College to become a dance girl and to major in Early Childhood Education to teach . Then go back to school for my master’s and hopefully my doctorate . With Glory University I learned to think mentally and physically like an Hbcu dancer and young African American woman. I also learned how to gain confidence and gain execution skills and how to furthermore carry myself as a dancer and a young woman trying out for a college dance team. This has been a great experience reading your perspective of a college dancer. Thank you so much again!
